Coaches Code of Conduct

RSC coaches are entrusted with the development and well-being of our players. This Code of Conduct defines the standards every coach is expected to uphold.

Rockville Soccer Club holds its coaches to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and care. By coaching with RSC, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct at all club events, practices, games, and communications.

Professionalism & Integrity

  • I will conduct myself with professionalism, integrity, and respect at all times — on and off the field.
  • I will serve as a positive role model for players, parents, and the broader RSC community.
  • I will uphold the values of Rockville Soccer Club and represent the organization with pride.
  • I will be honest and transparent in all communications with players, parents, and club leadership.

Player Development & Well-Being

  • I will prioritize the physical, emotional, and social well-being of every player in my care.
  • I will create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where all players can thrive.
  • I will provide equal opportunities for all players to learn, develop, and participate.
  • I will never use physical punishment or emotionally abusive language with any player.
  • I will recognize and respond appropriately to signs of physical or emotional distress in players.

Coaching Standards

  • I will prepare adequately for all practices and games to ensure productive sessions.
  • I will teach the rules of the game and ensure players understand and respect them.
  • I will provide constructive, age-appropriate feedback that encourages growth and confidence.
  • I will continue my own education and development as a coach through available training and resources.
  • I will not use my position to exploit players or families for personal gain.

Communication with Parents & Families

  • I will maintain open, respectful, and timely communication with parents and guardians.
  • I will address parent concerns privately and professionally — never in front of players or other families.
  • I will set clear expectations for players and families at the start of each season.
  • I will not discuss other players' performance or personal matters with parents outside of appropriate channels.

Referee & Opponent Respect

  • I will respect the authority of referees and officials and accept their decisions without public dispute.
  • I will not engage in or tolerate abusive behavior toward referees, opposing coaches, or opposing players.
  • I will instruct my players to compete fairly and with respect for opponents at all times.
  • I will shake hands with opposing coaches and officials before and after every match.

Safety & Compliance

  • I will ensure all training activities and drills are age-appropriate and conducted safely.
  • I will comply with all RSC policies, league rules, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • I will never be alone with a single player in an unsupervised setting.
  • I will report any suspected abuse, neglect, or unsafe conditions to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • I understand that violations of this Code of Conduct may result in suspension or removal from RSC.
