College Recruiting

Helping RSC players navigate the college soccer recruiting process with confidence.

Your Path to College Soccer

Playing college soccer is an achievable goal for dedicated players who start the process early and approach it strategically. Rockville Soccer Club is committed to supporting our athletes every step of the way — from building a standout player profile to connecting with college coaches.

Whether you're aiming for Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, or junior college programs, understanding the recruiting timeline and NCAA eligibility rules is essential. Use the resources below as your starting point.

The Process

Step-by-Step Recruiting Guide

01

Build Your Player Profile

Create a highlight video, compile your stats and achievements, and maintain strong academic records. College coaches evaluate the full picture — athletic ability and academic standing.

02

Research Programs

Identify schools that match your academic interests, athletic level, and personal goals. Consider division level, program culture, location, and financial aid opportunities.

03

Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center

If you're targeting NCAA programs, register with the NCAA Eligibility Center early in your high school career to ensure your coursework and amateur status meet requirements.

04

Reach Out to Coaches

Send personalized emails to college coaches with your highlight video, academic profile, and tournament schedule. Follow up consistently and attend college ID camps when possible.

05

Official & Unofficial Visits

Take campus visits to get a feel for the program and school environment. Official visits (paid by the school) are typically offered after a coach expresses serious interest.

06

Commit & Sign

Once you find the right fit, you can give a verbal commitment or sign a National Letter of Intent (NLI) during the signing period. Celebrate this milestone — you've earned it!

Recruiting Tips

  • Start the process early — ideally by 9th or 10th grade.
  • Keep your GPA strong. Academics open doors at every division level.
  • Attend showcase tournaments where college coaches are present.
  • Be proactive — coaches recruit players who show genuine interest.
  • Communicate openly with your RSC coaches for guidance and references.
  • Understand the difference between verbal commitments and signed NLIs.
